Is a pickup date guaranteed?
Not usually. Because the industry is route-based, it may take some extra time to get to your hybrid, especially if you live in the middle of nowhere, away from major freeways. What most hybrid shippers will do is give you a window for pickup. So, if you want your hybrid picked up on May 9th, the shipping company will probably give you a window between May 8th and 11th. This also gives the trucking companies a break because things happen and they can fall behind schedule (although this is uncommon). Be wary of companies that guarantee a pickup date, because you could be left holding the bag.

Hybrid Shipper CompanyAn hybrid shipper company is a company that specializes in the ship of hybrids. They are not ship brokers, however; they are fleet operators with their own dispatch departments who find hybrids for their drivers to pickup and deliver. Hybrid shipper companies are not as common as owner-operators but they are out there; some even advertise their services to customers and bypass ship brokerages completely, which can be beneficial or detrimental depending on their service. Most hybrid shipper companies go through ship brokerages to get freight because it is dependable and freight is readily available; those that do not, however, are oftentimes required to raise prices because freight is harder to find.
